How it works

Connected in three steps

1. 01 Download One file, BonDesk-QS.exe. Nothing to install, no account to create.
2. 02 Run If Windows shows a warning, click “More info” and then “Run anyway”.
3. 03 Share ID and password The program shows a 9-digit ID and a password. Read them to the person at Bonhaku helping you. Only then can we connect.

What happens during a session

Our own relay server

Connections are brokered by a server we run ourselves in a German data centre. Its address and key are built into the program, so there is nothing to configure.

Access only with your consent

Without the ID and password from your screen nobody can connect. Close the program and the session ends.

Encrypted channel

Screen, keyboard and transferred files travel over an encrypted connection, just as in RustDesk, which BonDesk is built on.

Open source

BonDesk is a fork of RustDesk under AGPL-3.0. The source code is public, so anyone can check what the program does.

Does BonDesk cost anything?

No. The program is free. You only pay for our work, under the support model we agreed on.

How is BonDesk different from RustDesk?

Same engine, with our logo and our server address built in. Once started, it connects straight to the Bonhaku server in Germany, with no manual setup.

Windows warns me before running it. Is that normal?

Yes. SmartScreen warns about programs from outside the Microsoft Store that do not yet have a long download history. Click “More info”, then “Run anyway”. Only download the file from this page or from bondesk.edv-ffo.de.

What is the MSI installer for?

You run BonDesk-QS whenever you need help. The MSI installer keeps the program on the machine permanently, which suits regular clients who would rather not download it for every request.

Does it run on Mac or Linux?

For now we only build BonDesk for 64-bit Windows 10 and 11. If you use another system, get in touch and we will agree on another way to connect.
